Brown Pearl V. Brown, 86, 1585 Smith Brown Road, Roan Mountain, died Thursday, September 7, 2000, at her residence following an extended illness. Ms. Brown was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Thomas and Maggie McClellan Brown. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and six brothers. Ms. Brown was a homemaker and a member of McGill Presbyterian Church, Roan Mountain. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Mary Nell Brown, Roan Mountain, several nieces and nephews, and special friends, Edna Hicks, Elk Park, N.C., Doug and Tina Blevins, Hampton, and Buddy and Judy Davis, Elk Park, N.C. Brown, 86, 1585 Smith Brown Road, Roan Mountain, who died Thursday, September 7, 2000, were conducted at 8 p. m. Saturday, September 9, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, with the Rev. Rick Birchfield and the Rev. Bill S. Goforth officiating. Music was under the direction of Charlotte Smith. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 10, in the Brown Family Cemetery in Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be selected from friends of the family. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Mottern and Carl Smith. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Sunday for the graveside services. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence, 1585 Smith Branch Road, Roan Mountain, at any time.
