CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Betty Jean Mitchell Broyles, 28 Mar 2005 ----¤¤¤---- Betty Jean Mitchell Broyles, 71, Circle Drive, Elizabethton, died Monday, March 28, 2005, at Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Broyles was a native of Greene County and the daughter of the late Edgar and Beatrice Sheffield Mitchell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Etta Lee Lockington, and a brother, Robert Mitchell. Mrs. Broyles was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Robert Floyd Broyles; a son and his fiancée, David Floyd Broyles and Deborah Anna; five grandchildren, Bethany Ruth Broyles, David Michael Broyles, Sara Broyles, Jared Broyles and Joseph Anna; and three brothers, David "Bud" Mitchell, Nashville, Thomas Mitchell, Panama City, Fla., and Bill Mitchell, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Broyles will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, April 1, at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Sorah and Rev. Ray Sorrells officiating. Music will be provided by Elmer Sams Jr., soloist, and Debbie Teague, organist. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the church at 7:50 p.m. Friday and also at the funeral chapel at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, will be selected from members of the Adult I Sunday School Class of Calvary Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be Louis Lagrand, William Blevins, Julius Taylor, Bill Perry, David Curtis Jr., Richard Tittle, Steven Vannoy, Harvey Charleton, Jeff Aycock and her church family. The family will receive friends at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral chapel at 9:30 a.m. Saturday to go to the cemetery.
