Mrs. Buckles was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Charlie and Ester Arnold Elliott. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy E. Buckles, in 1970, a son, a half-sister, a step-sister and two half-brothers. Mrs. Buckles attended the Pleasant Beach Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Iva Jean Mathes and Cora Smith, both of Elizabethton; three sons, Billy Joe Buckles and Larry Buckles, both of Elizabethton, and Jack Buckles, Johnson City; a brother, Wiley Elliott, Elizabethton; a half-brother, Joe Elliott, Elizabethton; and a half-sister, Edna Nave. Fifteen grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a great-great- grandson also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. BUCKLES -- Graveside services for Susie Buckles, 90, Hillview Nursing Home, formerly of Rt. 7, Elizabethton, who died Thursday, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at George Mottern Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Stout officiating. Active pallbearers will be grandsons. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 9:55 a.m. Monday for the graveside service. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
