CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Roxie O. Buckles, 1 Mar 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Roxie O. Buckles Mrs. Roxie O. Buckles, 83, Blue Springs Road, Elizabethton, died Saturday, March 1, 2003, at Pine Ridge Care Center. Mrs. Buckles was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Sam and Nannie Hill Odom. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Eston Buckles, June 24, 1990, a son, Augustus Buckles, in 2000, and by seven sisters and four brothers. Mrs. Buckles was retired from Denise Lingerie, having retired in 1981. She was a member of Little Doe Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Carolyn Buckles, Elizabethton; two daughters and a son-in-law, Virginia Clark, Nashville, and Voretta and Phil French, Knoxville; a sister, Dot Grindstaff, Elizabethton; and 10 grandchildren, Mark Buckles, Brack Buckles, Wayne Buckles, Chad Buckles, Greg Clark, Jeff Clark, Matthew French, Leigh Ann Rowe, Lisa Puckett and Stephanie French. Seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. BUCKLES -- Funeral services for Mrs. Roxie O. Buckles, 83, Blue Springs Road, Elizabethton, who died Saturday, March 1, 2003, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, March 3, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Brent Nidiffer, minister, officiating. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, in the Buckles Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Carolyn Buckles, 1404 Blue Springs Road, Elizabethton.
