CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Juanita Grindstaff Buckles, 24 Mar 2005 ----¤¤¤---- Juanita Grindstaff Buckles, 80, died Thursday afternoon, March 24, 2005, following a massive stroke suffered on Sunday, March 20, from which she never regained consciousness. Mrs. Buckles was a homemaker, farm-wife and mother and will be deeply missed by her husband of 63 years, Eugene Buckles, Buckles Road, Elizabethton. Mrs. Buckles was preceded in death by her brother, Reuben Grindstaff; her mother, Pairlee Dancy Grindstaff; her father, George W. Grindstaff II; two of her half siblings, and several aunts and uncles. Her children include Vivian Hammonds and husband Howard of Winchester, Tenn., Wayne Buckles and Barbara Lotshaw, both of Elizabethton, and Debbie Dotson and husband Mark of Watauga. Her grandchildren are Melanie Harkleroad and husband Tim of Bristol, Nathan Arnold and wife Shelley of Norman, Okla., Frank Arnold of Edmond, Okla., and Dustin Buckles of Elizabethton. Great-grandchildren include Martin and Sarah Harkleroad and Mason, Haley and Brett Arnold. Her survivors also include her brothers, Harold Grindstaff of Goode, Va., and Carl Grindstaff of Atlanta, Ga., several nieces, nephews and her father's second family. The funeral service for Mrs. Buckles will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 26, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home with Mr. Richard Thomason officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. Friends may also call at other times at the residence, 159 Buckles Road, Elizabethton. The graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 28, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Monday to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Nathan Arnold, Frank Arnold, Dustin Buckles, Gerald Buckles, Paul Buckles, Mark Dotson, Howard Hammonds and Bo Ensor.
