Bunten William Gilbert Bunten, 70, 610 Siam Road, Elizabethton, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Bunten was a native of Carter County and the son of the late William Gaither and Eliza Smith Bunten. He was also preceded in death by five sisters, Irene, Evelyn, Frances, Ola Mae and Edith, and two brothers, Archie and Chris Edwin. Mr. Bunten was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and was a retired postal worker. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a Life Member of Disabled American Veterans. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Vance Bunten, Elizabethton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Geneva and Jack Hoss and Margie and Jeff Nelson, all of Elizabethton; a daughter, Becky Bunten, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gilbert and Rachel Bunten, Elizabethton, and Bill and Donna Bunten, Hill Air Force Base, Utah; and a son, Brad Bunten, of the home. Eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. www.Funeral-Plans.com/Tetrick BUNTEN -- Funeral services for William Gilbert Bunten, 70, 610 Siam Road, Elizabethton, who died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Donnie Davenport and Rev. Richard Jones officiating. Music will be under the direction of Jason Thompson, Jacque Caldwell and the Reed Family. Interment will follow at Richardson Cemetery, Shell Creek, with Military Honors accorded by the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be Jason Thompson, Steve Buchanan, Steve Davenport, David Fox, Richard Pilk, Tim Pilk, Johnny Glass and John Peters. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Ingram, Lloyd Estep, John Henson, David Crockett, Dr. Jay Mehta, Dr. Ahmed Khan, Dr. Blacky, Dr. Farrow, Johnson City Medical Center 2300 and 3300 Nursing Staff and Respiratory Staff, the men of Harmony Baptist Church, Vance Brothers and brothers-in- law. A special thank you to Jacque Caldwell for all the help, love and support, and a special thank you to Kay Arnold and Johnson City Medical Center Hospice. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence any time.
