CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Minnie Beatrice "Bea" Burleson, 1 Oct 2004 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Minnie Beatrice "Bea" Burleson, 82, N. Barton Street, Johnson City, died Friday, October 1, 2004, at home with her loving family members by her side. Mrs. Burleson was a native of Carter County and had lived in Johnson City for more than 60 years. She was a daughter of the late John Wesley and Mary Jane Goodman Blevins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur D. "A.D." Burleson, and by two brothers, three sisters and one grandson. Mrs. Burleson was a homemaker and a member of the Grace Baptist Church serving in the WMU and singing in the choir. She was a former volunteer at Johnson City Medical Center and a member of the American Business Women's Association.Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and James Oakes, Johnson City; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Elaine Burleson, Johnson City, and John David and Frances Burleson, Jonesborough; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Richard and Sharon Burleson, David Nichols, Troy Burleson, Lisa and David Nelson, Regina and Quentin Hilton, Penny Burleson, Cathy and William, and Heather Burleson; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; several nieces and nephews; and one of many special friends, Mabel Blankenship. The funeral service for Mrs. Burleson will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, October 3, 2004, in the Morris-Baker South Chapel with Rev. Elbert Sharpie officiating. Music will be by Mrs. Jean Jackson and Rev. Elbert Sharpie, soloists. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, October 4, at Roselawn Memorial Park. A procession will form at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Monday to go to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service. Friends may also call at the residence of her daughter, Linda and James Oakes, N.
