Campbell Leonard W. Campbell, 87, 244 Blue Springs Road, Elizabethton, died Wednesday, October 4, 2006, at Pine Ridge Health Care Center following a brief illness. Mr. Campbell was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Percy Raymond and Lula Smith Campbell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma "Ted" Campbell, May 14, 2006; four brothers, Ralph Campbell, Harold Campbell, Spencer Campbell and Raymond Campbell; and a sister, Hazel Williams. Mr. Campbell had been the manager of Jellico Grocery Company and was a member of Loyal Order of the Moose, Johnson City Lodge #1831. He was a member of Hunter Methodist Church and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James A. and Elouise "Ellie" Campbell of Unicoi; a granddaughter and her husband, Madra and Duane Stout of Johnson City; and a great-grandson, Devin Stout of Johnson City. Graveside services for Mr. Campbell will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday, October 6, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Estel Williams officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mrs. Brenda Pelham, soloist. Military Honors will be accorded by the Tennessee Army National Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Williams, George Campbell, Charlie Campbell, Bob Campbell, Bobby Joe Fletcher, Stan Bishop, Mack Matherly, Glen Creasey and members of Hunter Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, prior to the graveside service, or at the residence of his granddaughter, Madra Stout, 3302 Victoria Court, Johnson City, at anytime. The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Vivian Clark and her staff and Tammy Hyder, RN, and the staff of Pine Ridge Health Care Center. To those who desire in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hunter Methodist Church, 722 Highway 91, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
