Crow Sr. James Edward Crow Sr., 71, 408 Ridgecrest Drive, Elizabethton, died Monday, March 13, 2006, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mr. Crow was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Kermit and Maude L. Parker Crowe. Mr. Crow was a retired veteran of 20 years with the U.S. Navy, having served during the Korean and Vietnam era. He then retired from the City of Elizabethton Fire Department after 18 years. He was a member of West Side Christian Church and the American Legion Post #49. He loved fishing and all sports. Survivors include his wife, Joan Carolyn Jones Crow; a daughter, Susan L. Majors, Orlando, Fla.; three sons, James F. Crow Jr., of Florida, Stephen Jones, of Mississippi, and John David Crow, Seamore, Tenn.; two sisters, Joann Ashley and Patricia Principe, both of Atlanta, Ga.; and five grandchildren, Joshua Jones, Susannah Majors, Austin, Sara and Anna Jones. Funeral services for Mr. Crow will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at West Side Christian Church with Mr. Greg Key officiating. Music will be provided by Scott Reynolds. Active pallbearers at the funeral service will be the Honor Guard of the Elizabethton Fire Department. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Stout, Raymond Bautista, Glen Ashley, Franko Frisco, Arthur Turbyfill Jr. and his church family. The family will receive friends at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service hour. Friends may also call at the residence at anytime. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 17, in the National Cemetery at Mountain Home. Military Honors will be provided by the Tennessee National Guard. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral chapel at 10:15 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery. Donations may be made to the Faith Promise Fund, West Side Christian Church, 1307 West G Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643 or to the East Tennessee Christian Home, Allen Avenue, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
