Campbell 4/12/00 Lon David Campbell, 76, 653 Old Embreeville Road, Jonesborough, died Monday, April 10, 2000, at Johnson City Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Mr. Campbell was a native of Hampton and the son of the late Edward M. and Polly Honeycutt Campbell. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lawton Campbell, and three sisters, Hattie Nave, Clora Pierce and Georgia Ingram. Mr. Campbell was a member of the Cherokee Baptist Church and was the owner and operator of Campbell Upholstery, specializing in 18th Century Customized Furniture. He traveled extensively in the U.S. He was a veteran of the Navy/Air Force, serving as a 2nd Class Petty Officer in World War II. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Hazel Wagner Campbell, of the home, and a brother, Frank Campbell, High Point, N.C. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home, 418 W. College Street, Jonesborough, (423) 753-0514, is in charge of arrangements. CAMPBELL -- Funeral services for Lon David Campbell, 76, 653 Old Embreeville Road, Jonesborough, who died Monday, April 10, 2000, will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2000, from the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kelver Mullins officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, prior to the funeral service. Interment services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 14, at Cherokee Baptist Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Rick Yett, Vestal Treadway, Doran Brookshire, William Mitchell, Paul Masters, Gary Gamble, Gary Bennett and Bill Stoots. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Cherokee Baptist Church, John Dillow and Bob Rogers.
