CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Lockett Grant Campbell, 28 Aug 2002 ----¤¤¤---- Lockett G. Campbell Lockett Grant Campbell, 89, 356 Blue Springs Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A Carter County native, Mr. Campbell was a son of the late Robert L. and Mary Smith Campbell. Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by three sisters, Gladys C. Bishop, Ruby C. Estep and Robbie C. Grindstaff; and three brothers, Gordan Smith Campbell, George Marcus Campbell and Shirley Leon Campbell. He was a graduate of Elizabethton High School. Mr. Campbell was a retired salesman with the former Bunton Chevrolet. He was also a dairy farmer and cattleman. Mr. Campbell served as a county commissioner from the 9th District for a number of years. He was a former member of the Carter County Cattlemen's Association. He was active in the Elizabethton Civitan Club for several years. He had been an active member of the Stoney Creek Volunteer Fire Department for 31 years. He was a member and former deacon of Hunter First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Fay Williams Campbell, and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. CAMPBELL -- Funeral services for Lockett Grant Campbell, 89, 356 Blue Springs Road, Elizabethton, who was called home Wednesday, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Dr. Dennis Deese and the Rev. Joe Manis officiating. Interment will be in the Caldwell Springs Cemetery. Mrs. Marilyn Bowers will provide the music. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:50 p.m. Sunday, will be Bob Campbell, Richard Estep, James Bishop, Robert Williams, Randy Williams, Allen Bishop, Jack Perkins and Dan Holder. Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Gouge, Fred Taylor, Melvin Buckles, Rev. Burl Garland, Raymond Townsend, Cecil Davidson, D.J. Townsend, Leonard Campbell, J.D. Anderson and members of the Stoney Creek Volunteer Fire Department. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence.
