CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - D.C. Campbell, 13 Aug 2004 ----¤¤¤---- D.C. Campbell, 80, Midway Drive, Elizabethton, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Dayton C. and Bessie Grindstaff Campbell. He was a retired employee of the Bemberg Corporation and from the Carter County School System as a janitor. He was also a farmer. Mr. Campbell was a member of the Stoney Creek Primitive Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Maggie Buckles, Myrtle Carden, Luella Berry and Mollie Bowers; and four brothers, Fuller Campbell, Hughie Campbell, Sherrill Campbell and Thedford (T) Campbell; and a grandson, Glen Campbell. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Bowers Campbell; one son, Harvy Dale Campbell, Elizabethton; two grandchildren, Tammy Campbell, King George, Va., and Harvey Dale Campbell, Jr., Elizabethton; nine great- grandchildren; a sister, Catherine Smith, Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Jeanette Bowers. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Elder Keith Bowers and Elder Willard Owens officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, in the Bowers Cemetery (Roy Bowers Road). Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 9:55 a.m. Monday, will be Joseph Campbell, Ralph Bailey, Dewey Bowers, Denny Bowers, John Barbee and Johnny Berry. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Simmons, Eddie Presnell, Chris Bowers and Roy Richardson. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
