CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Clessie M. Potter Cannon, 28 Nov 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Clessie P. Cannon Clessie M. Potter Cannon, 88, S. Roan Street, Elizabethton, died Friday, November 28, 2003, in the Johnson City medical Center. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late John Finley and Rosa Ellen Dugger Potter. She was a retired employee of the Bemberg Corporation and also a formal Avon representative. Mrs. Cannon was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elizabethton. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rose Marie Cannon; three brothers; and four sisters. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Carroll and Joan Morgan, Hampton; two sisters, Burlie Richardson, Lake City, Fla. and Thelma Rouse, Spartanburg, S.C.; two grandchildren, Kimberly Iverson, Lowell, Mass., and Heather Strasser, Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Brent Seals officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Bob Polk officiating. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Monday, will be Roger Arwood, Lucas Arwood, David Arwood, Billy Smith, B.J. Smith and Fred Julian. Honorary pallbearers will be Floyd Estep, Calvin Sharp and her Sunday school class of First Baptist Church. Also surviving are her special friends, Tammy Sharp and Mary King. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Joan Morgan, 204 Rittertown Road, Hampton. For those who prefer, memorials may be made to the Carter County Rescue Squad. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Monday to go to the cemetery.
