Carden 05/03/99 Mary A. Carden, 80, 503 Florence Street, Elizabethton, died Thursday, April 29, 1999, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Carden was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Godfrey and Liza Jane '"'Sissy'"' Oliver Williams. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Delmer Carden, December 8, 1994, and two sisters, Alice Nidiffer and Lizzie Bowers. Mrs. Carden was of the Free Will Baptist Faith. Survivors include two sisters, Lucy Williams and Lula Myers, both of Elizabethton; a sister-in-law, Mary E. Arnold, Elizabethton; and two special nieces, Amanda Scalf, Elizabethton, and Margaret Hall, Johnson City. Several other nieces and nephews also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. CARDEN -- Funeral services for Mary A. Carden, 80, 503 Florence Street, Elizabethton, who died Thursday, will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with Rev. Robert Davis and Rev. Ed Davis officiating. Music will also be under the direction of Rev. Robert Davis and Rev. Ed Davis. Interment will follow in the Bowers Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Wesley Myers, Don Myers, Gerald Oliver, Stanley Carden, Wayne Nidiffer, David Hill, Mike Montgomery and David Montgomery. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Robert Walter, John Montgomery, Alan Parlier, the 2nd & 3rd Floor Nursing Staffs of Sycamore Shoals Hospital and Art Barber. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the home of a sister, Lucy Williams, 503 Florence Street, Elizabethton, any time. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
