Carden, 81, 539 Highway 91, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, August 1, 2000, at Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Carden was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Chris and Cora Buckles Carden. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Walter Carden, Delmer Carden and Condan Carden, and a sister, Jane Carden. Mr. Carden retired from the Mapes Piano String Company and was of the Free Will Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Blannie Livingston Carden, of Life Care Center of Elizabethton, and a sister, Mary Evelyn Arnold, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Carden, 81, 539 Highway 91, Elizabethton, who died Tuesday, August 1, 2000, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, August 3, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with Rev. Sonny Thomas and Rev. Clate Briggs officiating. Music will be under the direction of Marie Parlier. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Friday, August 4, at Garland Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Stanley Carden, Locket Carden, Arthur Carden, Jimmy Hayes, Gaither Humphreys, Wayne Nidiffer and Allen Parlier. Honorary pallbearers will be Elmer Carden, Dr. David Tabor, Rev. Dan Smith, Lamar Garrison, Nursing Staff Skilled 3300 and the 5300 Nursing Staff at Johnson City Medical Center. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Friday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence, 539 Highway 91, Elizabethton, at any time.
