CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Lloyd I. Carden, Sr., 9 Nov 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Lloyd I. Carden, Sr. 80, formerly of Rockey Branch Rd., Elizabethton, died Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at Ivy Hall Nursing Home following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Charlie and Maggie Nave Carden. Mr. Carden was a member of Beck Mountain Baptist Church and retired from Great Lakes Research as security guard. He was a member of the Hampton Masonic Lodge #750 F&AM. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Estelee Crowe Carden, in 1998, and a granddaughter, Carrie Anne Campbell. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Charles Campbell, Watauga; Mary and Ronnie Pierce, Jacksonville, Fla.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Patti Carden and Lloyd Carden, Jr. and Norma Carden, all of Elizabethton; nine grandchildren, David, Daniel, and Douglas Campbell, Kelly Ensor, Ashley Carden, Aimee Carden, and Nancy Lee Carden, all of Elizabethton; Craig Pierce and Jody Towers, both of Florida and five great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2004 in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Ronnie Campbell and Rev. Bill Watson officiating. The graveside service and burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 11, 2004 in the Caldwell Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Everyone will meet at the funeral home chapel at 10:15 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service or at other times at the home of a son, Lloyd Carden, Jr., 716 Beech St., Elizabethton. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and selected friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home.
