CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Marcelline Sue Taylor Carden, 5 Jan 2005 ----¤¤¤---- Marcelline Sue Taylor Carden, 71, formerly of Blue Springs Road, Elizabethton, died Wednesday, January 5, 2005, at Johnson City Medical Center. She had resided at Appalachian Christian Village for the last four years. Mrs. Carden was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Robert H. and Pauline Grace Buckles Taylor. Mrs. Carden was a member of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church and the Gideon Auxiliary. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from East Tennessee State University and her Master's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Mississippi. She was an elementary school teacher for Midway and East Side Elementary Schools and taught for 36 years in the Elizabethton and Carter County School Systems. Survivors include her husband, Harley Carden, of the home; a son and daughter -in-law, Dalerick and Cathy Carden, Atlanta, Ga.; two granddaughters, Courtney Carden and Caroline Carden, both of Atlanta, Ga.; a brother and sister-in-law, Glenn Max and Wanda Taylor, Johnson City; two aunts, Trula Buckles, Elizabethton, and Katherine Reed, Greeneville; two nieces, Mitzi Puckett, Johnson City, and Shana Sutherland, Kingsport; and two special friends, Wanda Bowers and Jane Montgomery, both of Elizabethton. The funeral service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Friday, January 7, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Heaton officiating. Music will be under the direction of Dale Williams. The graveside service and interment will be at noon Saturday, January 8, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 11:15 a.m. Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, or other times at the residence. Active pallbearers will be Daniel Holder, Dick Righter, Fane Bowers, Dallas Williams, Javy Taylor, Fred Campbell, Hugh Buckles and Chuck Randolph.
