Carnett 08/25/99 Robert M. Carnett, 74, 123 Holly Hill Road, Roan Mountain, died Monday, Aug. 23, 1999, at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Grant and Emma Pearl Lyons Carnett. He was a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church and a retired employee of North American Rayon Corp. Mr. Carnett was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Jean Holstsclaw Carnett, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law: Tony and Johnnie Carnett and Lester and Mary Lou Carnett, all of Roan Mountain; four grandchildren: Dale and (wife) Carla Carnett; Brandon Carnett and Shawnee Carnett, all of Roan Mountain; two great- grandchildren: Mason and Josie Carnett, Roan Mountain; four brothers: J.C. Carnett and Roger Carnett, both of Elizabethton; Kenneth Carnett, Hampton; and Gene Carnett, Rhodiss, N.C.; five sisters: Amanda Potter, Roan Mountain; Ruth Harmon and Viola Lafon, Granite Falls, N.C.; and Mary Sell and Joan Coffee, Rhodiss, N.C. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. CARNETT -- Funeral services for Robert M. Carnett, 74, 123 Holly Hill Road, Roan Mountain, who died Monday will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, at Little Mountain Baptist Church, with the Rev. Steve Coonse and the Rev. Charlie Trivette officiating. Music will be under the direction of Kathy Whitehead, Vivian Koster, Charlie Whitehead and Charlotte Smith. Graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999, at Cornett Cemetery with military honors by Capt. Lynn H. Folsom V.F.W. Post 2166. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be John Henson, Pence Stocton, Carl Carden, Cecil Largent, Wallace Carden, Frank Ball, friends of Little Mountain Baptist Church, Jack Norris, J.B. Curtis, Paul Richardson and the Rev. Richard Blevins. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Thursday for the service. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Little Mountain Baptist Church or at the residence any time. For those who prefer, memorials in lieu of flowers may be sent to Carter County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 682, Elizabethton, TN 37644.
