Carter Mrs. Dovie Faye Carter, 80, 111 West "E" Street, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, January 23, 2001, at Indian Path Medical Center, Kingsport, following a brief illness. Mrs. Carter was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Harrison and Nellie Hughes Street. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Shelby "Slim" Carter, in December 1998, and by three brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Carter was a retired cafeteria worker at North American Rayon Corporation. She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Elizabethton. Survivors include two sisters, Marie Thomas and Etta Hughes, both of Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Phil Poston and the Rev. Eddie Young officiating. Music will be by the Rev. Phil Poston, soloist. Graveside services and interment will be at 3 p.m. Friday, January 26, at Monte Vista Burial Park. Everyone will meet at the cemetery on Friday. The family will receive friends at the church from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
