A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Nat and Nola Cochran Carver. Mr. Carver was preceded in death by his wife, Nan Woodby, a son, Cecil Carver, and a brother, Burl Carver. He was a member of Sims Hill Christian Church and retired from North American Rayon Corporation. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Joyce and Ronnie Odom, Elizabethton; and June and Richard Pearce, Elizabethton; two sons and daughters-in-law: Les and Pat Carver, Johnson City; and Leonard and Ginger Carver, Bluff City; two sisters: Edith Byrd and Elsie Hyder, both of Elizabethton; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Tetrick Funeral Home-Riverside Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements. www.Funeral-Plans.com/Tetrick CARVER -- Funeral services for Earl Carver, 85, formerly of 234 West Doe Avenue, who died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, from Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel with Mr. Hugh Hatfield and Mr. Ernie Depew, ministers, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Gloria Holly, with the Sims Hill Christian Church Quartet. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, in the Highland Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from grandsons and granddaughters. Honorary pallbearer will be a special friend, Jack Honeycutt. Everyone will meet at the funeral home Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at 9:30 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, in the Riverside Chapel, Tetrick Funeral Home, or at the residence, 234 West Doe Avenue, Elizabethton, any time.
