Carver Mrs. Lorene Simerly Carver, 80, 188 Simerly Creek Road, Hampton, died unexpectedly Sunday, January 7, 2001, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Mrs. Carver was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Kirk and Bunnie Tolley Simerly. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Carver, November 2, 1995, a sister, Christine Whitehead, and two brothers, Fred Simerly and Ernie Simerly. Mrs. Carver was a member of the Little Doe Free Will Baptist Church. She was a member of the Hampton Chapter #470, Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Lois Carver, Elizabethton; a daughter and son-in-law, Loretta and Byrd Deadrick, Hampton; two granddaughters, Lorie Ann Burleson, Elizabethton, and Mary Sue Seay, Johnson City; and a great-granddaughter, Sabrina Daun Burleson, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. SIMERLY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Lorene Simerly Carver, 80, 188 Simerly Creek Road, Hampton, who died Sunday, January 7, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Shane Waters and the Rev. Jerry Honeycutt officiating. The Victory Singers will provide the music. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 10, in the Simerly Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, will be Wade Tolley, David Tolley, Stevie Collins, Jeff Simerly, Freddie Simerly, Greg Mathes and Charlie Seay. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Collins, Gilbert Honeycutt, Brian Mathes, John Paul Mathes, Robert Simerly and Chris Tolley. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
