CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Dr. Julian Terrell Caudill Sr., 3 Aug 2003 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Dr. Julian T. Caudill Sr. Dr. Julian Terrell Caudill Sr., 84, Caudill Place, Elizabethton, died Sunday, August 3, 2003, at his residence following an extended illness. Dr. Caudill was a native of Narrows, Va., and the son of the late Dr. Estell Leftridge "E.L." Sr. and Flora Weatherly Caudill. He was also preceded in death by a son, Terry Caudill, and a brother, Dr. E.L. Caudill Jr. Dr. Caudill was a 1940 graduate of the University of North Carolina and a 1951 graduate of the University of Florida School of Pharmacy. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Elizabethton. Dr. Caudill and his wife, who is also a pharmacist, owned and operated Watauga Pharmacy in Elizabethton for 29 years. He was a member of the Elizabethton Rotary Club of Elizabethton, having 48 years of perfect attendance. He was also a Paul Harris Fellow. Dr. Caudill was a member of the Dashiell Masonic Lodge #238 F&AM, the Scottish Rite and the Jericho Shrine Temple. He was a member of the Board of Directors at Security Federal Savings Bank. He was a World War II Army veteran, having served in New Guinea and the Philippines in counter intelligence and was with the First Occupational Forces in Japan during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Dr. Altajane Holden Caudill, of the home; one son, Tom Caudill, Dayton, Ohio; one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn Caudill Hazelwood and Kail Hazelwood, Knoxville; three granddaughters, Mara Caudill, Lacayes, Haiti, Caroline Clark, Elizabethton, and Casey Ross, San Diego, Calif.; one great-grandson, Cannon Michael Clark, Elizabethton; one daughter- in-law, Charlotte Caudill, Elizabethton; one sister, Peggy Weiss, Asheville, N.C.; and two special friends, Virginia Caudill, Dayton, Ohio, and Rhadchanee Ruth, Chicago, Ill. The funeral service for Dr. Caudill will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, August 7, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with the Rev. Buford Hankins and the Rev. Bill Carter officiating. A private inurnment will be held at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Honorary Pallbearers will be Peter W. Hampton, Donald Tetrick, John R. Crockett Jr., Michael McKinney, Bill Hampton, Red Beall, Sam LaPorte, Greg Bowers and Bob Kane. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
