CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Lena Chambers, 13 Feb 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Mrs. Lena Chambers, 83, Tiger Creek Road, Roan Mountain, died Friday, February 13, 2004, at Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Chambers was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Frank and Lou Hicks McCellan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ward Harrison Chambers, and a son, Ray Harrison Chambers. Mrs. Chambers was a homemaker. She attended Sunrise Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include six sons, Floyd Chambers, Lon Chambers, Earl Chambers, James Chambers, Chuck Chambers and June Chambers, all of Roan Mountain; five daughters, Nannie Lou Miller and Delia Ann Stephens, both of Hampton, Rosa Mae Birchfield, Bonnie Sue Arnett and Betty Sue Chambers, all of Roan Mountain; 35 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, February 16, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with the Rev. Perry Markland, the Rev. Bill Shoupe and the Rev. Charlie Trivette officiating. Music will be by Ty Powell, Charlie Miller and Margaret Smith. Interment will follow in the Captain Nelson Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dean Smith, Tommy Roberson, Bill Highsmith, Roger Stevens, J.R. Arnett and Randy Chambers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Simerly, Bill Street, Alan Lewis, Jeff Powell, Gary Clark, Tim Chambers, Ford Julian Jr., Jimmy Lyons, Robbie Lyons and Jeff Hill. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Friends may call at the residence, 679 Tiger Creek Road, Roan Mountain, at any time.
