CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Ruby "Myrtle" Chambers, 19 Jul 2005 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Ruby "Myrtle" Chambers, 78, Siam Road, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Chambers was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late James Elmer and Nola Winters Sims. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Chambers, in 1996, and a son, David Mark Chambers. Mrs. Chambers was a member of Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church and retired from Denise Lingerie. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Regina and Will Barkley, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Cindy Chambers and Tim and Jeannie Chambers, all of Elizabethton; six grandchildren, Jamie Garfield, Cumming, Ga., Rusty and Drew Chambers, both of Elizabethton, Beth Whitehead, Alex Chambers and Davi Eller, all of Elizabethton; five great-grandchildren, Dylan and Jada Whitehead, Alexis and Camden Garfield and Jordan Eller; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Charlotte and Boyd Pruitt and Paulette and Gary Harris, all of Elizabethton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carroll "Bud" and Jennifer Sims, Elizabethton, and John Sr. and Helen Hyatt, Hampton; a special niece and great-niece, Rebecca and Haley Jarnigan, Elizabethton; special family members, Blaine Jenkins, Betty Lou Chambers, June Tellenn and Lillie Johnson; friends from the Johnson City Dialysis Center; and a special friend, Mary Salassi. Several other nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mrs. Chambers will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Johnson and Rev. Shannon Sims officiating. Music will be under the direction of Boyd and Charlotte Pruitt and Ben Johnson, soloist. The graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 21, in the Chambers Cemetery, Valley Forge Community. Those attending the graveside service will meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service in the chapel, or at the home of a son, Tim Chambers, 1317 Siam Road, Elizabethton, at other times. Active pallbearers will be Tommy Jenkins, David Jenkins, Boyd Pruitt, Sammy Ellis, Rusty Lewis, Gerald Oliver, Bucky Johnson and Rex Ward.
