CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Samuel Eugene Church, 29 Oct 2002 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Samuel E. Church Samuel Eugene Church, 77, 141 Honeycutt Street, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, October 29, 2002, at the James H. Quillen Veteran's Affairs Medical Center. Mr. Church was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County and a son of the late Samuel Church and Cora Colyer Church. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Elmer Church, and three sisters, Ruth Lewis, Marie Church and Mary Sue Church. Mr. Church was a retired co-owner of Church Brothers Sand and Gravel and was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. He attended Calvary Baptist Church, Elizabethton. Survivors include his former wife and mother of his children, Velma Church, Johnson City; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Harvey Norris, Elizabethton; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Carol Church, Johnson City; three grandchildren, Lee and Jason Norris and Leslie Church; and two great-grandchildren, Justin and Bradley Norris. CHURCH -- Funeral services for Samuel Eugene Church, 77, 141 Honeycutt Street, Elizabethton, who died Tuesday, October 29, 2002, will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, from the Morris-Baker North Chapel with the Rev. Joe Sorah officiating. Interment will follow graveside services at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 31, at U.S. National Cemetery, Mountain Home. Active pallbearers will be Benny Grindstaff, Brian Street, Jason Norris, Dale Clark, Brian Sexton, Jim Reed and Ed Shirley. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home for a procession to the cemetery, which will depart at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
