Clemons 01/29/99 R.J. Clemons, 71, 119 Headrick Lane, Elizabethton, died Thursday, January 28, 1999, at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Clemons was a native of Carter County and the son of the late John Clemons and Rosie Richardson Clemons Hyatt Montgomery. Mr. Clemons was a member of Charity Hill Free Will Baptist Church, having served faithfully as a Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and Song Leader. He was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation and a former employee of Bemberg Industries. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Velma Greene Clemons, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Vernon Ray and Juanita Clemons, Johnson City, and Wayne Edgar and Pearl Clemons, Elizabethton; two grandsons and their wives, A.J. and Sue Clemons, Johnson City, and Wayne and Jessica Clemons, Berea, Ky.; a granddaughter, Kathy Ann Clemons, Elizabethton; a great-grandson, T.J. Clemons, Johnson City; three sisters, Venia Carr, Elizabethton, Helen Gass, Louisville, Ky., and Mrs. Frank (Lena) Hayes, Johnson City; two brothers, Jack Clemons and Thomas Clemons, both of Elizabethton; a number of nieces and nephews; special friends, Tommie and Nell Reed, Murfreesboro; a special sister-in-law, Mary Isabell Greene, Elizabethton, and two other sisters-in-law, Ruth Greene and Peggy Greene. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. CLEMONS -- Funeral services for R.J. Clemons, 71, 119 Headrick Lane, Elizabethton, who went home to be with his heavenly Father, Thursday, January 28, 1999, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with Rev. Jerry Emert and Rev. Tommy Maines officiating. Music will be under the direction of Blossom Coleman, pianist. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Larry Moreland, David Stonecypher, Tim Potter, William Bill Cole, Rick Largent and Larry Emmert. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Reed, Roger Tunnell, Clarence Perry, Eric Creasey, Ronnie White, Johnny Slagle, Students of the Millwright & Electrical Class of TN Technology Center, Friends and Neighbors, Members and Little Friends of Charity Hill Free Will Baptist Church, Former Pastors of Charity Hill Free Will Baptist Church, Fellow Employees of North American Rayon Corporation and Bemberg Industries, Wal-Mart Friends, Dr. Jack Wells, Dr. Shobha Hiremagalur, Dr. David Wiles, Dr. Ahmed Khan, Dr. Robert Blacky, Dr. Daniel Paul, Dr. Mark Chang, Dr. Brannon Thomas, Manuel Campbell and Johnny Campbell. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the home of a sister-in-law, Mary Isabell Greene, 115 Headrick Lane, Elizabethton, or at the home of a son, Wayne Clemons, 308 S. Main Street, Elizabethton. For those who prefer, memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Charity Hill Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, 1352 Old Charity Hill Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
