Clemons Elbert J. Clemons, 88, 157 Camelot Court, Elizabethton, died Thursday, March 21, 2002, at his residence. Mr. Clemons was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Joe and Catherine Crowe Clemons. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Catherine Montgomery and Gladys Spitzer, a brother, Haskel "Bo" Clemons, and a great-grandchild. Mr. Clemons was a member and former deacon of Hunter First Baptist Church. He was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. Survivors include his wife, Okie Mae Clemons, of the home; a son, Roger Clemons, Elizabethton; two daughters, Wilma Honeycutt and Brenda Smith, both of Elizabethton; nine grandchildren, Stephen Honeycutt of Texas, Rachael Williams, Watauga, Andy Honeycutt, Johnson City, Thomas Clemons, Elizabethton, Tracy Clemons, Elizabethton, Scott Clemons, Johnson City, Christopher Smith, Elizabethton, Melanie Smith, Elizabethton, and Marc Clemons of England; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray Clemons, Elizabethton; and three sisters, Virginia Colbaugh, Alma Colbaugh and Sarah Dial, all of Elizabethton. Clemons, 88, 157 Camelot Court, Elizabethton, who died Thursday, March 21, 2002, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, March 22, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with the Rev. Eric Eggers and the Rev. Burl Garland officiating. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Dr. Dennis Deese officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Hunter First Baptist Church and employees of Adventa Hospice. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 9:55 a.m. Saturday for the graveside service. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home. Friends may also call at the residence, 157 Camelot Court, Elizabethton, at any time.
