CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Okie Mae Bowers Clemons, 25 Mar 2004 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Okie Mae Bowers Clemons, age 90, Camelot Ct., Elizabethton, died Thursday March 25, 2004 at her residence. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Mary Ellen Grindstaff Bowers. She was a member of Hunter First Baptist Church and was a housewife. Mrs. Clemons was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Clemons, in 2002; one great grandchild, Jesse Williams; one brother and three sisters. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Hazel Clemons, Elizabethton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wilma and J.C. Honeycutt, Watauga; Brenda and Roger P. Smith, Elizabethton; one brother, Luther Bowers, Elizabethton; two sisters, Pearl Bowers, Elizabethton; Evelyn Gay Gouge, Elizabethton; grandchildren, Stephen Honeycutt, Texas; Rachel Williams, Watauga; Andy Honeycutt, Johnson City; Thomas Clemons, and Tracy Clemons, both of Elizabethton; Marc Clemons, England; Scott Clemons, Johnson City; Christopher Smith, Elizabethton; Melanie Smith, Elizabethton, and 11 great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2004 at Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Dr. Dennis Deese and Rev. Eric Eggers officiating. Music will be under the direction of Dean Palmer. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel prior to the funeral service or friends may call at the residence any time. The graveside service and burial will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2004 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnson City Medical Center Hospice, Rev. Burl Garland, Meals on Wheels, care givers, and her church family at Hunter First Baptist Church. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 2:50 p.m. on Saturday.
