CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Tate W. Calhoun, 5 Jul 1983 ----¤¤¤---- Obituary appeared in the Wednesday, July 6, 1983 Elizabethton Star Tate W. Calhoun, 69, of Osceola, Ind.; died Tuesday morning at his residence following a lengthy illness. A native of Avery County, N.C., he had lived in Roan Mountain, Tenn., and had resided in Indiana for the past 30 years. Mr. Calhoun was a son of the late Harrison and Frances Bentley Calhoun. He was a member of the Church of God in Mishawaka, Ind., and was an Army Veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Beulah Birchfield Calhoun, of the home; two sons, James and John Woody Calhoun, both of Osceola, Ind.; five daughters, Mrs. Janet Wingett, Mrs. Annette Rorie, Mrs. Norma Jean Walker, Mrs. Charlotte Swekempt and Mrs. Naomi Davis, all of Osceola, Ind.; two brothers, Oscar Calhoun of Elizabethton, and Jeff Calhoun of Hampton; and two sisters, Mrs. Grace Calhoun Harrison of Elizabethton and Mrs. Texie Calhoun Peters of Hampton. Several grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Chapel of Warner Funeral Home, Osceola, Ind.
