CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - ----¤¤¤---- Mrs. Willie Calhoun Mrs. Willie Calhoun, age 77, U.S. Highway 143, Roan Mountain, died Monday, November 3, 2003 at the Cannon Memorial Hospital, Linville, North Carolina, following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Bill and Bessie Honeycutt Hughes. Mrs. Calhoun was a member of Burbank Free Will Baptist Church, Roan Mountain and was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Reynard Calhoun, of the home; one sister, Mable Troutman, Roan Mountain; one great niece and spouse, Kathy and Johnny Ledford, Roan Mountain; two great great nieces and spouse, Melinda and Dean Fields; Jessica Ledford, all of Roan Mountain; two great great great nieces, Kaylen Fields and Karah Fields, both of Roan Mountain; one nephew, Bill Hughes, of Deland, Florida; four special friends, Nickie Strickland and Joanna Miller, both of Roan Mountain; Clara Heaton, Elizabethton, and Helen Guinn, of Elk Park, North Carolina. Several other nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2003 in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, with Rev. Richard Blevins and Mr. Bedford Motley, Jr., minister, officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Burbank Free Will Baptist Church Quartet. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Jerry Calhoun, Jack Barnett, Carroll Hill, Harold Jarrett, J.L. Troutman, Warren Ledford, Danny Miller and Walter Heaton. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Troutman, Jim Strickland, J.B. Ellis, Horace Calhoun, Scotty Johnson, Neal Johnson, Tom Jarrett, C.W. McMahan, Steve Barnett, Ted Barnett, Herm Freeman, Russ Johnson, Fred Martin, Mike Street, Guy Street, members of Burbank Free Will Baptist Church, friends and neighbors. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Cannon Memorial Hospital for their love and care shown to our family. Everyone will meet at the funeral home chapel at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2003 to go in procession to the cemetery.
