CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Wanda Lee Hammer Colbaugh, 22 Mar 2005 ----¤¤¤---- Mrs. Wanda Lee Hammer Colbaugh, 73, High Tower Road, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Colbaugh was a native of Washington County and the daughter of the late Rev. S.D. and Sarah Austin Hammer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bobbie Colbaugh, in 1988, an infant sister, and three brothers, Roland Hammer, Dwight Hammer and Bill Hammer. Mrs. Colbaugh was a homemaker and a past employee of J.C. Penney and Kress Department Stores. She was a member of Central Free Will Baptist Church of Johnson City and a member of the Eastern Star Local No. 163 and the Auxiliary of the Shrine Band. Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Carol Carter, Gray, Bobby and Pam Colbaugh and Benny and Dani Colbaugh, all of Elizabethton, and Randy and Robin Lady Colbaugh, Bluff City; three brothers, Ernie Hammer and Earl Hammer, both of Johnson City, and Charles Hammer, Flint, Mich.; a granddaughter, Hannah Colbaugh, Elizabethton; two step-granddaughters, Brandi Deloach, Elizabethton, and Courtney Trail, Bluff City; and three special friends, Carolyn Colbaugh, Thelma Colbaugh and Christine Carriger, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Colbaugh will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, March 25, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Stout and Rev. Ken Hauser officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Harvey Family. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 26, in the Colbaugh Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Ted Colbaugh, J. Harold Ray, Harold Range, Bill Hammer, Mike Hammer, Pete Slagle, Steve Burrough and Dale Smalling. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Tester, Phillip Hyder, Sam Colbaugh, Roy Colbaugh, Tom Colbaugh, members of the Watauga Volunteer Fire Department, members of the Carter County Rescue Squad and members of the Carter County Sheriff's Department. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Friends may also call at the residence of a son, Benny Colbaugh, 137 Grandview Circle, Elizabethton, at anytime.
