CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Charlie D. Cole, 25 Jun 2002 ----¤¤¤---- Charlie D. Cole Charlie D. Cole, 87, Lacy Hollow Road, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Cole was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Cameron and Ada Markland Cole. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Nora Combs Cole, in 1977, and by three brothers and a sister. Mr. Cole was a retired employee of East Tennessee Chair Company and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include a daughter, Martha J. Campbell, Elizabethton; a brother, Willie Cole, Elizabethton; two sisters, Mary Cole and Bessie Deloach, both of Elizabethton; three grandchildren, Dennis Fair, Johnson City, Rick Campbell, Elizabethton, and Sharon Nickels, Gray; a great- granddaughter, Holly Nickels, Gray; and three special friends, Lawrence Dial, Jack Miller and Wally Oliver, all of Elizabethton. Cole, 87, Lacy Hollow Road, Elizabethton, who died Tuesday, June 25, 2002, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 27, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with the Rev. Darrell Holly officiating. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, June 28, in the Wilson Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Rick Campbell, Doug Colbaugh, Justin Colbaugh, Jerry McNeal, Jeremy McNeal, Joe Cole Sr., Joe Cole Jr. and Dustin Hughes. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Carter, Grady Hill, Herman Colbaugh, Dr. Jonathan Bremer, Pat Hennessee and family and friends at City Market, Elizabethton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.
