CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - A. C. (Abraham Clay) Cole, 1 Jan 2004 ----¤¤¤---- A. C. (Abraham Clay) Cole, age 91, of Allen Ave., Elizabethton, died Wednesday at his residence following a brief illness. He was a native of Mountain City and had lived in Elizabethton for most of his life. Mr. Cole was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elizabethton and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Mr. Cole was also a member of the Dashiell Masonic Lodge #238 F&AM. He was a retired Route Delivery Salesman having worked for Carrier's Bakery, Larkin Bakery, Southern Bakery and Sunbeam Bakery. He was preceded in death by his wife, Olive Rhea Davis Cole on February 24, 2003. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Burley Cole and Harry Cole, and by two sisters, Margaret Click and Mabel Reynolds Owens. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Betty Cole Hahn of Richmond, Va.; one son, Dr. Doug Cole of Elizabethton; four grandchildren; William Cole Hahn and Jeffery Douglas Hahn, both of Richmond, Va.; Kelly Caroline Walters and Emily Morganstern both of Johnson City; six grandchildren; Diana Hahn, Kassidy Hahn, Emilia Hahn, Jacob Hahn, Cara Hahn and Cole Morganstern, and a special niece, Brenda Carol Kish. The funeral service for A C Cole will be conducted at 6 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2004 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway Percy Funeral Home with the Rev. Brent Seals officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mr. John Bunn, soloist and Mrs. June Gouge, pianist. The graveside service and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2004 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Saturday, will be Paul Street, Dean Blevins, Jerry Cole, Jack Honeycutt, Jeff Hahn and William Hahn. Honorary pallbearers will be Dustin Walters, Eric Morganstern, Johnny Hinkle, Larry Dean Hinkle, John Bare, and the men of the Fellowship Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the funeral service in the chapel of the funeral home. Friends may also call at the home of Mr. Cole's son, Dr. Doug Cole, 624 Westwood Drive, Elizabethton.
