Collins Anna L. "Granny" Collins, 93, of Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Elizabethton, formerly of 151 Grindstaff Hollow Road, Elizabethton, died Sunday, September 17, 2000, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Collins was a native and lifelong resident of Carter County and a daughter of the late Rogan and Jane Lowe Pierce. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George Collins, in 1997; three daughters, Helen Phillips, Pauline Odom and Louise Grindstaff; seven brothers, Henry, Nick, Bill, Dorsey, Robert, Paul and Worley Pierce; and two sisters, Lissie Hayes and Blonnie Elliott. Mrs. Collins was a former employee of the Bemberg Corporation and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Stoney Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include a step-son and his wife, J.L. and Edna Collins, Elizabethton, and a step-daughter, Cora Glover, Cleveland, Ohio. Five grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, several step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. COLLINS -- Graveside services for Anna L. "Granny" Collins, 93, of Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Elizabethton, formerly of 151 Grindstaff Hollow Road, Elizabethton, who died Sunday, September 17, 2000, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. H. Brooks Peters officiating. Interment will follow the service. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, will be Jason Estep, Adam Grindstaff, Robert Pierce, S.M. Estep, Clyde Peters, Nathan Whitburn, Terry Glover and Larry Collins. Honorary pallbearers will be Lawrence Pierce, Carroll Grindstaff, Howard Grindstaff, Sanford Peters, Dallas Peters and her friends and extended family of Ivy Hall Nursing Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at her residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
