CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - G.V. "Cap" Collins, 11 Oct 2004 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- G.V. "Cap" Collins, Minister, 82, Garrison Hollow Road, Elizabethton, died Monday, October 11, 2004, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Collins was a native of Washington County and a son of the late George V. and Fannie Webb Collins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Mr. Collins was a member of South Side Christian Church and was retired from Smithdeal's Market after 28 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Patsy Mann Collins; a son, Brian A. Collins, Marshall, N.C.; a daughter, Virginia Gayle Collins, Lakeside, Calif.; three grandchildren, Travis Brian Collins, Dustin Ruppard and Megan Ruppard, Karen and Jay Ruppard, mother and stepfather of the grandchildren, Banner Elk, N.C.; a special niece, Charlis Lyle, Johnson City; and a special nephew, Roland Henderson of Florida. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, October 14, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home with Mike Koruschak, minister, officiating. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 15, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Everyone is requested to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Friday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service, or at any time at the residence, 578 Garrison Hollow Road, Elizabethton. Active pallbearers will be Bobby Fair, Ron Fair, Danny Simerly, Gordon White, Ken Nidiffer and Pat Hicks. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Sunday School Class at South Side Christian Church.
