CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Paul Howard Coleman, 12 May 2004 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- NEWLAND, N.C. -- Paul Howard Coleman, 90, of Old Spanish Oak Road, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at the Mountain Home V.A. Medical Center. Mr. Coleman was born February 16, 1914 in Hampton, Tenn., a son of the late Rev. Nat and Linda Brummitt Coleman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nerva Jane Johnson Coleman. Mr. Coleman was a cattle farmer. A veteran of World War II, he was a PFC in the U.S. Army Infantry Special Forces and was on the Normandy Beach on D Day. He received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He was a charter member of the VFW Pat Ray Post. Survivors include a daughter, Ann Coleman, Newland; a brother, Conley Coleman, Hampton, Tenn.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 15, from the Grandfather Chapel of Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Hughes Cemetery with military rites provided by the Pat Ray Post of the VFW. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 14, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Cannon-Sloop Health Care Foundation.
