Mr. Cox was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Riley and Tilda Goodson Cox. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Earl Cox. Mr. Cox was a member of Hunter Memorial Baptist Church and a retired employee of General Motors, Cleveland, Ohio. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II. Survivors include his wife, Frankie Shell Cox, of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia Cox, Wellington, Ohio, and Charlotte Cox Black and Jim Black, Brunswick, Ohio; a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Mary Cox, Wakeman, Ohio; a brother, Will Cox, Beckley, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Melissa Cesareo, Brunswick, Ohio, James Black, New Orleans, La., Adam Cox and Caitlin Cox, both of Wakeman, Ohio; and four great-grandchildren, Sean, Tiffany and Heather Cesareo, all of Brunswick, Ohio, and Jamie Black, Johnson City. James Hawk officiating. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 15, at Shell Cemetery, Hampton Creek. Military Honors will be accorded by the Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post #2166. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence, 123 Forest Drive, Elizabethton, at any time.
