CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Willa F. Cardwell Crowe, 7 Jan 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Willa F. Cardwell Crowe, 75, West F. Street, Elizabethton, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 7, 2004, at Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. Mrs. Crowe was a native of Old Hickory, Tenn., and the daughter of Florence D. Cardwell, Elizabethton, and the late John W. Cardwell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Crowe, and a son, Michael E. Crowe. Mrs. Crowe was a member of First Baptist Church of Elizabethton. She was a business woman and retired owner of Bristol Merle Norman. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include a sister and brother- in-law, Rosalie and Doug Smith, Kingsport; a son and daughter-in-law, Pat and Nancy Crowe, Summerville, S.C.; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Jim Turner, Knoxville; nine grandchildren, Daniel and Patrick Crowe, both of Charleston, S.C., Barhyt Henry, Laura Henry and Tyler Henry, all of Knoxville, Stacy Brown, Chattanooga, Susan Turner and Alan Turner, both of Knoxville, April Gaskins, Summerville, S.C.; a great-grandson, Justin Gaskins, Summerville, S.C.; a nephew and his wife, Dr. John Alan Smith and Wendy Smith, Kingsport; two grand-nieces, Emily and Rachel Smith, Kingsport; and beloved sisters -in-law, Polly Musick, Greeneville, Margaret Manney, Jonesborough, and Carolyn Beard, Lebanon. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, January 9, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with the Rev. Brent Seals officiating. The graveside service and interment will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 10, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home chapel at 1:15 p.m. Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of Hermitage Health Center for their gentle and loving care, and to the staff of Johnson City Medical Center and Elizabethton Rescue Squad and very special appreciation to her faithful and loving caretaker, Cindy Shull. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel. The family request that no flowers be sent.
