CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Kathryn Hale Crowe, 20 Mar 2005 ----¤¤¤---- Kathryn Hale Crowe, 89, Ivy Hall Nursing Home, formerly of Southside Road, Elizabethton, died Sunday, March 20, 2005, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Mrs. Crowe was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Arthur A. and Sallie Lacey Hale. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry B. Crowe Sr.; a granddaughter, Lisa Wilkins; five sisters, Virginia Smithdeal, Frances Akers Elizabeth Smith, Dorothy Blair and Sarah Hale; and two brothers, Luther Hale and Arthur "Sonny" Hale. Mrs. Crowe was a homemaker and was of the Presbyterian faith. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carol Ann and Tom Harry, Inglewood, Fla.; a daughter, Tonia K. Sparks, Elizabethton; a son, Harry B. Crowe Jr., Elizabethton; a granddaughter, Diane Anderson; four great- grandchildren, Rachel Wilkins, Lesley Blevins, Kimberly Acuff and Brian Barnhart; two great-great-grandchildren, Chance Acuff and Katlyn Acuff; and a brother, Clarence "Bud" Hale, Kinston, N.C. A memorial service for Mrs. Crowe will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Preston Sartelle officiating. Private inurnment will follow at a later date. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Smith, Robert Clark, Sid Smithdeal, Richard Hale, Norman "Buddy" Hyder, Jack Hilton and Danny Wilkins. The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel from 2 until 3 p.m. Wednesday. Friends may also call at the residence of Tonia Sparks, 601 Bingham Street, or Harry Crowe Jr., 115 Mays Road, at anytime. The family would like to express a very special "Thank You" to the Ivy Hall Nursing Home Staff for the wonderful love and care shown to Mrs. Crowe.
