CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Tommie C. Curde, 4 Jan 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Tommie C. Curde Tommie C. Curde, 78, Appalachian Christian Village, Johnson City, formerly of 146 Hilton Hill Road, Elizabethton, died at the Village on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003. A native of Carter County, Mr. Curde was a son of the late Samuel H. and Viola Blanche Feathers Curde. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ed Curde and Ronnie Curde. Mr. Curde was a graduate of Happy Valley High School. He retired from the Elizabethton Electric System as a service supervisor. He was a former Carter County Commissioner. He was a former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Appalachian Christian Village. He had served on the IBEW Executive Board. He was a member of the Watauga Masonic Lodge #622, the American Legion, Watauga Post 49. He was in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of Brick Christian Church, Watauga, where he was chairman of the board and an elder. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Dean Peeler Curde; one daughter, Debra Dean Curde, Johnson City; one son, Tommie Joel Curde, Surgoinsville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and J.A. McLain, Elizabethton, and Sonja and Doug Smalling, Watauga; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Bruce and Shirley Curde, Elizabethton, and Betty Curde, Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Gabriel Curde, Joshua Curde, Katy Curde, James Hopkins and Beth Hopkins; two great-grandchildren, Michael Dominic Curde and Joshua Sullivan Curde; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. CURDE -- Funeral services for Tommie C. Curde, 78, Appalachian Christian Village, Johnson City, formerly of 146 Hilton Hill Road, Elizabethton, who died Saturday, January 4, 2003, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2003 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Jeff Campbell, minister, officiating. Graveside service and interment will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2003 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 12:55 p.m. Wednesday, will be Sam Curde, Andiy Curde, Ivan Good, T.J. Garland, Jason Peters, Curtis Pearson, James Michael Wilson, Danny Trent, Rusty Curde, Randy Curde, Kevin Trent, and Billy Willocks. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 12:55 p.m. Wednesday.
