CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Hildred Arlene Curry, 30 May 2004 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Hildred Arlene Curry, 76, Race St., Elizabethton, died Sunday, May 30, 2004 in the Indian Path Hospital, Kingsport. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Wiley and Mamie Williams Taylor. She was a housewife, beloved mother and had a special love and care for her children. Mrs. Curry was a member of the Hunter First Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher of the Willing Workers and Dorcan classes. She was also a former choir member and in previous years had been active in the WMU of the church. Mrs. Curry was preceded in death by her husband, Berttran Curry, in 1977, and by a son-in-law, Patrick Buckles. Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Debra Buckles, Elizabethton; Diane and Sean Bower, of Tallahassee, Fla., and Denise and Sidney Hood, Kingsport; two grandchildren, Ashely Hood and Austin Hood; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathleen and Jack Payne, Chattanooga, and Lula and Frank Childers, Elizabethton; a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Betty Taylor, Elizabethton; two sisters-in-law, Edna Buckles, of Ohio, and Ethel Wease, Jonesborough; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2004 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Dr. Dennis Deese, Rev. Burl Garland and Rev. Eric Eggers officiating. The graveside service and burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2004 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Kenneth Miller, Dale Williams and Sue Bowers, pianist, will provide the music. Ashley Hood will provide music at the graveside. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, will be Chad Frazier, Barry Taylor, Rick Taylor, David Payne, Craig Julian, Cecil Eggers, Bob Hughes, Jon Barnett and Todd York. Honorary pallbearers will be her church family, children she baby-sitted for, the staff of Wexford House, her caring doctors, the staff of Indian Path Hospital, J.C. and Shirley Robinson, Everett and Norma Kern, Keiner Depew, Kenny Childers, Mike Frazier, Keith Williams, Shane Buckles, Mick Rooney, H.B. Wease, J.D. Phillips, Leon and Nancy Hood and Mike Sproles. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at her residence.
