Davis Marguerite Clark Davis, 88, 214 West K Street, Elizabethton, was born June 22, 1918, in Elizabethton, and passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2007, at her residence. She was married to Fred P. Davis for 62 years, who preceded her in death on December 3, 2003. Marguerite was the daughter of the late Attorney Charles B. Clark and Dollie McCain Clark. Marguerite was a 1936 graduate of Elizabethton High School and graduated from Steed Business College. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elizabethton. Marguerite and her husband founded Fred Davis Jewelers at the end of World War II in 1946 and together owned and operated the store for over 50 years. She worked closely with her husband in the jewelry store for many years and was instrumental in its founding and success. Marguerite was an avid golfer and a member of the Elizabethton Golf Course, where she had been Club Champion, a member of the Johnson City Country Club and the Beech Mountain Golf Club. Marguerite was a charter member of the Women's Civic Club, the Elizabethton Dance Club, a former member of the Elizabethton Business and Professional Women's Organization and a member of the Franklin Flower Club. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Marguerite "Mikki" Davis and D. Scott Costner of Gallatin and Elizabeth "Beth" Davis and Ronald M. Blomberg of Roswell, Ga.; four grandchildren, Kelli Costner Parker and her husband Dr. John Parker, D. Scott "Scotty" Costner Jr., Fred Davis Costner and Chesley Elizabeth Blomberg; and a sister, Bernice Clark Furches of Atlanta, Ga. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. A service to celebrate the life of Marguerite Davis will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 3, in the chapel of the Mausoleum of Peace of Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Buford Hankins officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Blomberg, Scott Costner, Dr. John Parker, D. Scott Costner Jr., Fred Davis Costner, Kenneth Brumit, Horace Brumit and members of the Carter County Bank Board of Directors. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to First United Methodist Church, 325 East E Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
