Velma L. Davis 





    Mrs. Velma L. Ensor Davis, 86, Pine Ridge Health Center, formerly of 171 

Davis Hollow Road, Elizabethton, died Friday, March 16, 2007, at Sycamore 

Shoals Hospital. 





    A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary 

Kress Ensor. 





    Mrs. Davis was a homemaker and a member of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church. 





    In addition to her parents, Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her 

husband, Elbert Clark Davis; a brother, Ivan Ensor; a sister, Moilee Lewis; 

and a half brother, Ebbie Kress. 





    Survivors include a daughter, Vanessa McQueen of Elizabethton; a son, 

Eddie D. Davis of Clayton, N.C.; two grandchildren, Richard E. Davis of 

Clayton, N.C., and Rachel E. Davis of Chapel Hill, N.C.; three sisters, Ida 

Connley of Chicago, Ill., Ella Mae Bishop and Jessaline Ensor, both of 

Elizabethton; and four brothers, Robert Ensor, Aubrey Ensor, Glen Ensor and 

Dennie Ensor, all of Elizabethton. 





    The funeral service for Mrs. Davis will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, 

March 18, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Rev. Eric 

Heaton officiating. Music will be under the direction of David Arney. A 

graveside service and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 19, in 

the Davis Cemetery. Friends and family are asked to meet at the cemetery at 

10:50 a.m. Monday. Active pallbearers will be nephews and friends. The family 

will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, prior 

to the funeral service, or at the residence of her daughter, 502C West F 

Street, Elizabethton, at other times. Online condolences may be sent to the
