Mr. Davis had lived in North Carolina for the past year. He was a native of Carter County and the son of the late David "D.H." and Margaret Nave Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Davis, a sister, Elizabeth "Ted" Perry, and a niece, Brenda Collins. Mr. Davis was a retired employee of the City of Elizabethton. He served in the Pacific during World War II serving in the United States Air Force. He was a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Dean Johnson Davis; two daughters and sons-in- law, Mona and Ed Armstrong of North Carolina and Debra and Paul Williams of Hampton; a son and daughter-in-law, Loren "Steve" and Kay Stevens of North Carolina; three granddaughters, Traci Harris, Ginger Gouge and Kelly Hearl; three great-grandchildren, Kelshan and Kaileigh Hensley and Alexander Harris; a brother, Bill Davis, Hampton; a sister, Mary Rock, Elizabethton; and two nephews, Gary Shipley and Troy Davis. Funeral services for Mr. Davis will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Troy Davis and the Rev. Bruce Hendrich officiating. Music will be provided by The Oak Street Quartet and Bill Fancher. Entombment services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 12, in the Mausoleum of Peace, Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, will be Harold Church, Brett Harris, Jeff Kelly, Jeff Gwyn, Randy Whitehead, Ricky Whitehead and Jeff Hearl. Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Armstrong, Paul Williams, Hasford Slemp and Claburn Johnson. Military Honors will be provided by the V.F.W. Post No. 2166 and the Tennessee National Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence.
