George L. Davis 





    George Lincoln Davis, 62, of Alvarado, Texas, formerly of Elizabethton, 

passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2008, at his home. 





    Mr. Davis was the son of the late W. Patton "Hicks" and Mary Stout Davis 

and was born in Elizabethton on February 8, 1945. In addition to his parents, 

he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. 





    George was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also served in the U.S. Army 

as an M.P. in the K-9 Corps. He married his wife, Leona, on May 27, 1977, and 

they enjoyed 30 years of marriage. 





    In addition to his wife, Leona Booth Day Davis, of the home, Mr. Davis is 

survived by his daughters, Suzette Davis of Stephenville, Texas, and Crystal 

Holmes and her husband Barry of Grandview, Texas; his granddaughter, Cassidy 

Holmes of Grandview, Texas; four sisters, Shirley Perkins, Corinne Wilcox, 

Patty Murray and Velma Elliott, and two brothers, I.B. "Buzz" Davis and Leroy 

Willis, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. 





    The family will receive friends in Elizabethton on Friday, January 18, 

from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home. 

Services will follow at 7:30 p.m. Friday with Rev. Dale Greenwell and Rev. 

Horace Bowers officiating. The graveside service and interment will be 

conducted on Saturday, January 19, at 11 a.m. at Range Cemetery. Active 

pallbearers will be Ronnie Colbaugh, Matt Murray, Rick Elliott, Danny R. 

Elliott, Charles Murray and Jarrod Ellis. Those wishing to attend are asked to 

meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Saturday to go in procession to the
