Davis Neville S. Davis, 83, 162 Ingram Branch Road, Roan Mountain, went home to be with his Lord, Sunday, April 13, 2008, from Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. He was a Carter County native, born to the late James William and Mary Ellen Andrews Davis. Mr. Davis was a member of Prayer Tabernacle and a retired welder. He enjoyed playing music. Mr. Davis served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Cordell Davis, in 2000, and two sons, Ronnie and Charles Davis. Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and James "Jay" Murray, Jonesborough, Tonua and Gary Tipton, Pamela and Rick Crumley, all of Roan Mountain, and Regina and Billy Briggs, Pelzer, S.C.; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Betty Davis, Elizabethton; and a brother, Hurley Davis, Roan Mountain. Several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Denton Hicks, Elk Park, N.C., also survive. The funeral service for Mr. Davis will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, in the Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Rev. Johnny Hilton and Rev. John McCoury officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. Friends may also call at the residence of his daughter, Pam Crumley, 174 Ingram Branch Road, Roan Mountain, at other times. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, in the Johnson-Roanview Cemetery. Everyone is welcome to meet the family at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday for the service. Active pallbearers will be selected from his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be friends and neighbors. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the American Heart Association, 1101 N. Chase Parkway-Suite 1, Marietta, GA 30067 or to the American Diabetes Association, 900 East Hill Avenue-Suite 240, Knoxville, TN 37915.
