Mrs. Dial was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Joe and Kathryn Crowe Clemons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Dial, in 2002, two brothers, Elbert and Bo Clemons, and three sisters, Alma Colbaugh, Gladys Spitzer and Dorothy Montgomery. Mrs. Dial was a homemaker and a member of Fairview Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing with her husband. Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Arlie and Linda Dial of Watauga, Larry and Melinda Dial of Elizabethton, and Marvin Dial of Watauga; a brother, Ray Clemons of Watauga; and a sister, Virginia Colbaugh of Elizabethton. Six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Dial will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, October 9, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Dr. Kenneth Jordan officiating. Music will be provided by Scott Reynolds, Ray Don Markland and Ruth Ann Cullop. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 10, in the Colbaugh Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, will be Steve Franklin, Adam Franklin, Steve Clemons, Elmer Clemons, Joe Spitzer and Tim Bo Bunton. Honorary pallbearers will be Nat Long, Bill Mathis, Finys Pennycuff, Fred Colbaugh and her church family. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Melinda Dial, 122 Danny Mathis Road, Elizabethton.
