Donnelly Mary Evelyn "Edna" Manning Donnelly, 96, 710 South Second Street, Courtyard Apartments No. 209, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, March 1, 2008, at Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. A native and lifelong resident of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Sam and Nola Colbaugh Manning. Edna was the oldest member of the First Christian Church of Elizabethton and during her service to the Lord held many offices in the Women's Fellowship and was the teacher of the Dorcas Sunday School Class for many years. She was retired from the Bowman Clinic in Johnson City and was a former employee in the textile lab at North American Rayon Corporation. Mrs. Donnelly loved to cook and bake and share her Rum Cakes with her many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, William K. "Bill" Donnelly, three sisters, Pauline Manning, Willa Mae Campbell and Betty Hughes, and a brother, George Manning. Survivors include a grandson, Mike Donnelly of Elizabethton; a granddaughter and her husband, Lisa and Al Broome of Bluffton, S.C.; a great- granddaughter, Lucy Myers of Bluffton, S.C.; a daughter-in-law, Lois Donnelly of Elizabethton; a sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Jack Hughes of Watauga; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Jack Manning and Paul and Margaret Manning, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mrs. Donnelly will be conducted at 12 noon Tuesday, March 4, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Brent Nidiffer, minister, officiating. Mrs. Virginia Laws will provide the Eulogy. Music will be under the direction of Gene Estep. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 10 a.m. until noon Tuesday, prior to the service. Friends may also call at the residence of a brother, Paul Manning, 312 Race Street, Elizabethton, at anytime. Interment will follow in the Colbaugh Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from the men at First Christian Church. Honorary pallbearers will be members of First Christian Church, her friends at Courtyard Apartments and her doctors and nursing staff. For those who prefer in lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Mrs. Donnelly to the First Christian Church of Elizabethton, 513 Hattie Avenue, Elizabethton, TN 37643 or to the East Tennessee Christian Home, 517 Allen Avenue, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
