Quillen VA Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Charlie Douglas and Sara Douglas Humphreys. Mr. Douglas was born in Elizabethton, on July 8, 1914. He served in the Marines in the South Pacific and was present when the American Flag was raised on Iwo Jima. After his Military service, he worked at North American Rayon Corporation and then attended the Louisville, Ky., Institute of Electronics. He was the first TV repairman in the Upper East Tennessee area. He also was the first technician to work on the cardiac monitors at Baptist Hospital, Knoxville. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Clara Hale Douglas; one step-brother and two step-sisters. He was a member of several community activities. He was a 50-year member of Dashiell Masonic Lodge #238 and the Jericho Shrine Temple. He was a member of the Watauga Commandry and the American Legion Post #49. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon for several years. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Billie Jean and Glen Creasey, Elizabethton, with whom he had made his home the last four years; a grandson and his wife, Doug and Glinia Creasey; a granddaughter and her husband, Jeaneene "Nikki" and Billy Vines; and a grandson, Eric Creasey, all of Elizabethton; two great-grandchildren, Brittany Jade Vines and Kristen Brooke Creasey, Elizabethton; two step-brothers, Walter Humphreys, of Elizabethton, and Bynam Humphreys, of Limestone; and two special family members, Debbie and Amy Lamb, of Limestone.
