Dugger Lyda Marie Richardson Dugger, 527 Teaberry Road, Roan Mountain, died Sunday, October 9, 2005, at Cannon Memorial Hospital in Linville, N.C. Mrs. Dugger was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Ed and Oma Guinn Richardson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William Ray Richardson and J.C. Richardson. Mrs. Dugger was a retired merchant and had previously been a cook at Cannon Memorial Hospital in Banner Elk. She was a member of Lower Shell Creek Christian Church. Survivors include her husband, Robert Shelton Dugger; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pansy and James "Speck" Smith, Hampton, and Kathy and John McCoury, Roan Mountain; three sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Janice Dugger and Jackie and Rita Dugger, all of Roan Mountain, and Rockie and Hermenia Dugger, Austin, Texas; a sister, Geraldine Oaks, Roan Mountain; and three brothers, Larry Richardson, Lake Lure, N.C., Burdell Richardson, Erwin, and Mont Richardson, Roan Mountain. Ten grandchildren and several great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Dugger will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, at the Lower Shell Creek Christian Church with Mr. Gerald Holly and Rev. Keith Gwyn officiating. Music will be provided by the Melody Trio. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 12, in the Dugger Cemetery in Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law and Gerald Jones and Tony Perry. Honorary pallbearers will be the Elders of Lower Shell Creek Christian Church, Ed Morgan and members of the church. The family will receive friends at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service hour. Friends may also call at the residence at anytime. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday. The family would like to express a special "thank you" to the staff of Cannon Memorial Hospital, Dr. Earwood Campbell, Hazel, the Nursing Staff of Roan Highlands, Erwin Health Care and Housecall of Hampton.
